10k row in 8+ (1 x 2k, 1 x 1k)

race warmup, 1 x 2k piece with racing start and lowish rates with rate shift up every 500m. 10 minutes rest then 1 x 1k start at base pace then last 500 with racing sprint sequence. boat went pretty well. due to a case of pink eye one of our rowers was out. our sub - an ex-nat’l teamer and 2004 olympic alternate who happened to give birth to twins 8 weeks ago but still kicks major a$$.

unfortunately in sweep rowing (one oar) most people can only row one side or the other. we had 3 starboads and 5 ports so one of us ports had to switch. i had the most experience switch hitting - 3 times in 20 years so i got the job. in all fairness since i spend a lot of my time sculling which uses 2 oars, it should be easier for me to switch sides, but due to muscle memory it’s still not that easy. in any event it went much better than expected and we were happy with the pieces overall. i also was in a different seat in a more stable part so it was a nice change. i am in no way overly confident, but it think this motley crew is starting to get it together in the last few days before our race.

oh - legs still very tired from the marathon!
